Switching from Text Blaze

Bring your Text Blaze snippets, shortcuts and all.
One subscription for the whole stack.

Export your folders from Text Blaze, drop the file into Toolbox, and type the same shortcuts in Gmail, Notion, Slack and any other text box. Templates are one tool in a side panel that also has a screen recorder, a PDF editor and short links.

Who it's for

Made for you if…

  • You use snippets for replies, notes and sign-offs, mostly in Chrome.
  • Your snippets use fill-in fields, menus and dates rather than rules and formulas.
  • You pay for several browser tools and want one subscription for all of them.
Bring your data

Move from Text Blaze to Toolbox

Your snippets come over with their shortcuts and folders. Text fields, menus, dates, the clipboard and the cursor become Toolbox fields; anything else is flagged for you to check.

  1. Open the Text Blaze dashboard (dashboard.blaze.today) and choose Import/Export, then Export.
  2. Pick the folders to bring over, or all of them, and download the .json file.
  3. In Toolbox, open Templates on the web, press Import and drop the file.
  4. Check the preview, including any snippet marked for review, then import.

What comes over

  • Snippets with their names and shortcuts
  • Your folders
  • Text fields, paragraph fields and menus, as Toolbox fill-in fields
  • Dates and times (with day and week shifts), the clipboard, the cursor, and the page's address and title

What doesn't

  • Rules, formulas and other commands Toolbox can't convert: they stay in the text as written, and the preview lists them
  • Formatting, images and tables: Toolbox templates are plain text, so rich snippets come over as their text
  • Shortcuts that clash with one you already have: they're left blank for you to set
Import from Text Blaze You'll see what comes over before anything is added.
What to expect

Templates in Toolbox, next to Text Blaze

Where Toolbox is as good or better, and where it's different. Where Text Blaze does more, we say so.

Different

  • No if/then rules, formulas, images or tables in templates.
  • No sharing templates with a team.
  • Chrome only: Text Blaze also has Windows and Mac apps.
  • On its own, Text Blaze costs less than Toolbox. Toolbox pays off when it replaces several apps.

Questions

Something else? Write to us from the Contact link below.

Will my shortcuts still work?

Yes. Each snippet keeps its shortcut. The importer can add a ; or / in front of shortcuts that have no symbol, and a shortcut that clashes with one you already have is left blank so you can pick another.

What happens to snippets Toolbox can't fully convert?

They still come over, with the parts Toolbox can't convert left in the text as written. The preview lists them before you import, so you know which ones to tidy up.

How many snippets can I import on the free plan?

The free plan holds 10 templates, so the importer offers to bring in the first 10. Premium removes the limit and lets you fill in fields when you insert; on the free plan, each blank keeps its default.

Is Toolbox free?

Yes. Every tool works on the free plan, with a few limits. Premium removes the limits and adds features like full-page captures and cloud storage, for every tool at once. Pro adds signatures, Office conversions and bookmark cleanups on top. You only add a card if you decide to upgrade.
